astigmatism includes a high level of sugar in the blood.
Risk factors of Astigmatism

established to predispose persons to the incidence of astigmatism. Such risk
factors identified medically include premature birth of babies which may
predispose them to incomplete development especially in the eye region and
prevalence in babies born with low body weight.

tests in ascertaining the presence or absence of astigmatism in a patient. such
tests conducted includes; Visual acuity test wherein the doctor asks patients
to read letters on a chart, Astigmatic dial which is a chart containing and
showing a series of lines which make up a semi-circle. Additionally, tests that
can be conducted to ascertain astigmatism include the use of keratometer which
measure the reflected light and the Keratoscope test which measures the
curvature of the patient’s cornea.
Precautions & Prevention of Astigmatism
There are some basic precautions which may be employed in
safeguarding against the incidence of astigmatism, some of these precautions
involves the consumption of plenty of fruits and vegetables along with the use
of the adequate and prescribed glasses. It is also important to use good

come readily as the treatment procedures may take time before noticeable
changes in the sight of the affected persons is noticed. Some of the treatment
procedures in the care of astigmatism include; Homeopathic Treatment of Astigmatism;
Acupuncture and Acupressure Treatment of Astigmatism; Psychotherapy Treatment
of Astigmatism; Conventional / Allopathic Treatment of Astigmatism; Surgical
Treatment of Astigmatism; Dietary and Herbal Treatment of Astigmatism; and
other Treatment of Astigmatism.
Homeopathic Treatment of Astigmatism

some remedies which are aimed at reducing the impact of the symptoms presented
by the eye sight medical condition. The remedies offered in homeopathic
treatment of astigmatism include; Lilium Tigrinum, Physostigma, Sepia and
Onosmodium.
Acupuncture & Acupressure Treatment of Astigmatism
In acupuncture treatment of astigmatism, focus is placed on
increasing blood flow to the affected region which include the brain and the
eyes. Acupuncture treatment of this medical condition helps patients in the
sense that it encourages the stimulation of growth of nerves located in the
retina thereby providing a means of correcting the sight related problem. Also,
acupuncture treatment of astigmatism has been reported to help in metabolic
changes within the affected person and also cause subsequent changes in the
central nervous system. Acupuncture treatment of astigmatism has also been
revealed to focus more on the activation
of eye muscles to facilitate eye focusing.
Conventional /
Allopathic Treatment of Astigmatism
In conventional or allopathic treatment of astigmatism, use
glasses or contact lenses is prescribed. Doctors following the conduct of the
tests to ascertain the presence of the medical condition will prescribe the
required specification of glasses or contact lens which will facilitate sharper
eye focus, better sight and possibly correct the medical condition.
Surgical Treatment of
Astigmatism
In surgical treatment of astigmatism, there are several
choices of surgical procedures which can be chosen from. These choices aimed at
correcting astigmatism include: Photoreactive keratectomy which involves the
removal of the outer protective layer of the cornea. Following this removal, an
excimer laser is then used to change the curvature of the cornea of the
patient. Also, Laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis, LASIK, may be conducted.
This surgical procedure involves the use of a surgical instrument called
keratome which is used to make a thin, circular hinged cut into the cornea of
the affected person. The surgeon then lifts the flap of the cornea and proceeds
to use an excimer laser to sculpt the shape of the cornea under the flap.
Additionally, the Laser-assisted subepithelial keratectomy, LASEK, may also be
conducted which involves folding back a thinner layer of the cornea, a
procedure which makes the eye less vulnerable to damage in case of injuries.
Dietary and Herbal Treatment of Astigmatism
Dietary and herbal treatment of astigmatism involves
encouraged consumption of plenty of fruits and vegetables along with dark green
