Some of the widely available diagnostic procedures include the conduct of Chest X-ray, CT scan, and Pulmonary function tests.
Precautions & Prevention of Asbestosis
Asbestosis has been established to be caused by continued or extended exposure to a mineral known as asbestos which is resistant to heat and corrosion. The mineral once it gains access into the lungs causes scarring of the lung tissues in affected persons. However, the respiratory medical condition which is most common to persons working in the industrial sector such as in the shipbuilding, building, road construction and other related sectors can be prevented through some basic precautionary moves which include wearing of a protective mask with a supply of clean air, reduction in the level of exposure to asbestos, avoidance of active or passive smoking as smokers have also been implicated to be at risk of this medical condition.
