What is Aspergillosis
Aspergillosis is a medical condition that has been
established to be caused by a group of illnesses. This group of illnesses has
been reported to be caused by a certain type of mold which is called
Aspergillus. This mold has been found to contain toxins which negatively
affects persons with this medical condition. Aspergillosis has also been
reported to be a medical condition which affects the respiratory system of the
affected individual.
Symptoms of Aspergillosis
Aspergillosis has been reported to be a group of illnesses
which is caused by ingestion of molds caused by aspergillus, the mold which
contains toxic substances has also been established to affect the respiratory
system of persons suffering from this medical condition. Aspergillosis has
however been medically established to present some symptoms in affected
persons. These symptoms exhibited by the disease state include; Fever, Coughing
of blood; Shortness of breath; emaciation and visible weight loss;
characteristic chest or joint pain; possible nose bleeding and skin lesions.
Causes of Aspergillosis
Aspergillosis can be caused by certain conditions which has
been medically associated to revolve around the inhalation of Aspergillus
spores. Inhalation of the spores produced by aspergillus has been reported to
be the main cause of the disease state in persons suffering from the medical
condition. However, it is important to note that aspergillosis develops mainly
in individuals whose immune system have already been compromised, in essence,
immunocompromised persons. The compromise of the affected person’s immune
system may however have been caused by either a disease, infection or use of
immunosuppressive drugs.
Risk factors of Aspergillosis
Aspergillosis has been medically reported to present along with
it some symptoms which may be mild or severe depending on the level of
compromise of the patient’s immune system. It is important to note that there
are some risk factors which predispose persons to the possibility of falling
victim to the medical condition, some of the risk factors which have been
identified by medical researchers include; weakened immune system, incidence of
asthma or cystic fibrosis, compromise of the immune system leading to low white
blood cell level, history of a Long-term corticosteroid therapy, possible
presence of cavities in the lung, genetic factors, and ankylosing spondylitis.
Complications of Aspergillosis
Aspergillosis presents along with it some complications
especially as it affects persons with compromised immune systems. The medical
condition has been reported to present a range of complications depending on
the severity or mildness of its expression in the patient’s system. Some of the
complications presented by the medical condition which grossly affects the
respiratory system includes: Bone destruction and spread of infection, Bleeding
in the lungs of affected persons and a possibility of infection’s spread from
the lungs to other parts of the body including key organs such as the brain,
heart and kidneys.
Diagnosis of Aspergillosis
There are several methods by which aspergillosis can be
diagnosed in patients suffering from this medical condition, however, one of
the most primary diagnosis of this medical condition is the expression of some
of the symptoms attributed to the medical condition including Fever, Coughing
of blood; Shortness of breath; emaciation and visible weight loss;
characteristic chest or joint pain; possible nose bleeding and skin lesions.
However, proper diagnosis may also be conducted with the supervision of a
medical team. Tests which may be conducted to establish the infection state in
the affected person include; X-ray, CT scan, Respiratory secretion or sputum
test, Tissue and blood tests, and also, biopsy may be conducted to establish
the infection state.
Precautions & Prevention of Aspergillosis
There are several precautionary moves to adopt in avoiding
the incidence of infection with aspergillus. However, it has been medically
established that it is almost impossible to avoid the infection. Some of the
precautionary moves to adopt against aspergillosis include; staying away from
obvious and suspected sources of molds such as construction sites, compost
piles and stored grain. Also, wearing face masks as a precautionary move when
being exposed to infectious agents has been proven to be effective in reducing
the chances of infection.
Treatment of Aspergillosis
There are some possible treatment procedures which can be
adopted in the care of aspergillosis as a medical condition, the treatment
procedures may however be adopted individually or in combination to help
promote proper and all-round cure. Some of the recommended treatment procedures
include: Homeopathic Treatment of Aspergillosis; Acupuncture and Acupressure
treatment of Aspergillosis; Psychotherapy Treatment of Aspergillosis;
Conventional or Allopathic Treatment of Aspergillosis; Surgical Treatment of
Aspergillosis; Dietary and Herbal Treatment of Aspergillosis; and other
Homeopathic Treatment of Aspergillosis
Homeopathic treatment of aspergillosis has been reported to
be aimed at giving quick relief to some of the symptoms presented by the
medical condition which includes pain, bleeding, fever, cough and breathing
problems. Drugs administered in homeopathic treatment of aspergillosis has been
established to be aimed at not only relieving the pain but also rehabilitating
the affected individual, in essence, treatment of aspergillosis is
constitutional, focusing on the person and the pathological condition. Homeopathic
treatment of aspergillosis has also been reported to be aimed at balancing the
energy system, improving immunity and body functions in the affected person.
Some of the medications administered in the homeopathic treatment of
aspergillosis which focuses on naturally curing the root cause of disorder
include; Ars, Sec, Stann, Ipecac, and Ledum.
Conventional or Allopathic Treatment of Aspergillosis
In the use of allopathic treatment of aspergillosis, drugs
such as Oral corticosteroids and Antifungal medications are administered to
affected persons in order to reduce the allergic reactions presented as one of
the symptoms of the medical condition. Aspergillosis has also been reported to
be treated with immunosuppressive drugs which most often may be orally ingsted
prednisone.
Surgical Treatment of Aspergillosis
Surgical treatment of Aspergillosis is only considered as an
option when bleeding from the mass in the lungs occurs. Surgical treatment of
aspergillosis involves the removal of the fungal mass in a procedure wherein
the doctor, most often than not, a radiologist, threads a small catheter into
the artery that supplies blood to the cavity containing the fungus ball. Once
the threading is at its destination, a special material is injected into the
destination which clogs the artery.
Dietary & Herbal Treatment of Aspergillosis
In dietary treatment of aspergillosis, prescription of
coconut oil has been found to stimulates the immune system and also serves as a
mild laxative which flushes dead or dying mold and fungi out of the body.
